Gender and Life Skills Development
For over 15 years, the Gender and Life Skills Development Program has been a catalyst for change, empowering adolescents and young people to take control of their lives by equipping them with critical life skills, promoting gender equality, and advancing their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
This dynamic program prepares youth to make informed, evidence-based decisions about their bodies, their futures, and their communities. By challenging harmful gender norms and fostering healthy behaviors, the program nurtures a generation of confident, informed, and responsible young leaders.
Beyond direct engagement with youth, the program drives systemic change. Through strong advocacy efforts from community-level campaigns to high-level government dialogue it works to shape inclusive policies, laws, and strategies that uphold gender equality and SRHR. It also builds powerful alliances with civil society organizations and youth-led movements, strengthening their capacity to amplify youth voices and deliver lasting impact.
At its core, the program is guided by five transformative values:
Gender Transformative Approach (GTA): Tackling the root causes of gender inequality by reshaping attitudes, behaviors, and systems.
Meaningful Youth Participation (MYP): Putting young people at the center as leaders, decision-makers, and change agents.
Disability and Social Inclusion: Ensuring no one is left behind, with deliberate efforts to include all voices, abilities, and identities.
Rights-Based Approach: Grounding all interventions in human rights, dignity, and agency.
Safety and Security: Creating safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive.
