Major Activities:

Some of the major activities accomplished by education program are:

o    Continuous capacity building trainings

o    Both and inter-region and cross country experience sharing visits

o    Timely monitoring and follow-up activities

o    Community sensitization discussions

o    Provision of educational materials and school facilities

o    Construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, libraries, toilets and other school premises

o    Facilitate the linkage process among College Teachers’ Educations and primary schools


To this end, education program adopt the following strategies:

v  Continuous capacity development of stakeholders through training and experience sharing visits among local actors

v  Conduct timely and common follow-up and supervisions

v  Common planning, learning, monitoring and evaluation with stakeholders

v  Engagement of students in school development programs

v  Community mobilization through sensitization and continuous awareness raising training programs

v  Linkage among stakeholders and grassroots beneficiaries

1. Objective of Education Program

The general objective of education program is to assure quality education in which children use their fullest potential to learn.

Specifically, the objectives are:

Improve capacity of teachers in child centered teaching methods

*  Facilitate child friendly and conducive learning environment

*  Capacitate school management team to work towards school improvement program

*  Enable girls to tackle sociocultural bottlenecks and continue with their study

*  Facilitate students’ individual and group talents and enable to exercise multiple intelligences

*  Enhance community participations in school improvement program


             Major Pillars of education program:

        Teachers’ capacity development in child centred active learning methods:

The program has a well-designed teachers’ training manual that consists 9 active learning methods. The material is published both in hard and softcopy and ready for easy and friendly teachers’ training. In collaboration with the tutors from College of Teachers’ Education, the program has been conducting baseline school observation and classroom task filming.   Based on the gaps identified, video based practical active learning is given for key teachers. To reach all the school teachers, the active learning training is also conducted at school level in the form of peer learning. Monitoring of the implementation of active leaning is conducted twice a year with the use of the checklist and format developed for this purpose. Following the supervision, progresses are recorded and documented.

       Create child friendly school environment:

In order to create conducive learning environment for children, the program has been constructing and renovating school facilities like libraries, classrooms, toilets and playgrounds. Supports of educational materials and hand tools also given for schools. Furthermore, children are empowered to participate in the improvement of their school environment through Student-Led School Sanitation and Hygiene and this has transformed the school situations and students’ personal hygiene.
